Hey Sanju.. here are the 5 examples are some A.R.Rahman songs got International recognition but not won Indian National Award.
Example.1:1995 movie 'Bombay' song was listed in The Guardian's "1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die & "Kehna Hi Kya" from the same movie was listed in The Guardian 's "1000 Songs Everyone Must Hear"
But in 1995, Indian National award for Nammavar (Tamil) for Late.Mahesh & Sukrutham (Malayalam) for Ravi & Johnson
Example.2:In 1998, 'Dil Se re' is the first Indian song to enter into UK top ten & also 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' from the same movie was selected as a 9th place in BBC World Service top 10 songs of all time
But in 1998, Indian National award goes to Annamaya (Telugu) for M. M. Keeravani. This movie won so many awards, but National award is the only MUSIC AWARD for this film.
Example.3:In 2006, a song from Water, 'Aayo Re Sakhi' shortlisted for 2006 Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination
But in 2006, Indian National award goes to Sringaram(Tamil) for Lalgudi Jayarama Iyer. Have you ever hear this tamil song?
